I always intended to teach, I’d worked hard to secure a place on a PGCE course to follow my degree. My degree show sold out, New Designers brought with it amazing exhibition and press opportunities and I was forced to decide if I could stop making to become a teacher. The opportunities were exciting and reluctantly I gave up my place and embarked on a career as a freelance artist. Despite loving what I do the urge to teach did not leave me. As my creative practice developed so did my desire to pass on skills. I now work as both artist and arts educator, teaching throughout the UK and overseas. I love to help people to make things, in particular characters, creatures and figures. I have always loved to tell stories, invent worlds and most importantly create the inhabitants. I teach people to illustrate three dimensionally using a quirky combination of mixed media. The process and outcomes are unique and suitable for all ages and settings. I am available on a freelance basis for workshops, residencies, talks and demonstrations – If you are a school, college, gallery, or other educational venue and you would be interested in booking a workshop or other event please contact me. Whether you are looking for a half day workshop, a week long project or a longer residency I will try to meet your needs. * I have up to date public liability insurance.
